School Stop Sign Reminder
|
The Garnavillo Police Department would like to remind motorists of the importance of stopping for the portable school stop signs during the hours in which our community's children are utilizing the crosswalks to go to and from school. The police department has witnessed multiple violations recently and issued several citations, including to this driver. Please remember to make complete stops at the signs and watch for children preparing to cross. Also exercise caution around the daycare on Watson and Washington Street where the school buses stop to load and offload kids. We have taken several complaints from the school district of drivers driving around the buses while they have their lights on and stop arms activated. On a more positive note, I will say for every violation we have seen, we see 50 other drivers making complete stops and driving very cautiously, which we appreciate greatly. Please continue to do your part to help keep our kids and volunteer crossing guards safe this school year.
Respectfully, Garnavillo P.D. |
