| Fence Permit |
A fence permit is required for new, alterations, additions or replacement of fences within the city limits of Garnavillo. You should first refer to the zoning ordinance for requirements and other information regarding the property on which you are planning to install a fence.
Use the grids below to make a rough drawing of your project that includes location of buildings/structures. Fences are required to be three feet (3’) from the property line.
Please complete the application form as completely as possible. If you are not sure on any of the information required, please ask for assistance.
When complete, return the form to City Hall for review. If the application is approved, the fee must be paid before the permit will be issued. The permit should be displayed in a weatherproof location and in plain sight at the address for which the permit was issued.
Some applications may require a special exception or a variance request, which will require additional time. Do not start any project until a fence permit is granted.
